Shawn Rizza began serving on the City Commission in 2018. Prior to that he served for several years on the Parks and Forestry Board, advocating for safer and more dynamic places for families to enjoy. Shawn continues to be very active in the Atchison community. He serves on the Site Council for the elementary school as well as the district as a whole, volunteers at the YMCA, Live Well Live Atchison, The Recreation Commission, First Christian Church, and serves on the board of Project Atchison.
Born and raised in Kansas, Shawn was thrilled to come “home,” when he and his wife Pam made the move to Atchison so she could start her sports medicine practice at the Atchison Hospital. Together they are raising two adorable girls, Kate, and Harper. Kate attends Atchison Elementary School, and participates in every activity she can fit in a week. Harper attends ACCA two days a week, and gets to stay at home with dad the rest of the time. Atchison has proved to be the perfect place to raise their young family, with the right mix of small town ideals and opportunities that you just couldn’t find anywhere else.
Shawn is honored to give a voice to the families of Atchison, and advocate for the growing movement in town that strives to improve and grow our city.
