The City of Atchison has been an active participant in using Industrial Revenue Bonds, which allow a development to borrow the tax exempt status of the City for construction/building materials and/or property taxes for a period of up to 10 years. The Stresscrete Group, the Atchison Hospital, the YMCA, the Holiday Inn Express, the Fox Theatre, and the Atchison Animal Clinic projects have all made use of Industrial Revenue Bonds in various ways in the last several years.
If your project is over $250,000, Industrial Revenue Bonds for sales tax and/or property tax reduction is worth looking into.
