2026/27 Street and Sidewalk Projects
As the weather warms, the City will soon begin to ramp up our infrastructure projects for the year. The summer of 2026 will have plenty!
THIS MAP shows the areas where we have planned sidewalk and/or paving upgrades. Some of the work will be completed by City crews, and some by hired contractors. Combined, these projects represent over $4 million in transportation improvements and upgrades within the City of Atchison, with over 40% of that cost being covered by state grants!
Keep in mind, these are not the only paving and sidewalk projects you will see completed this year. For example, the map does not include highway and bridge projects where the City partners directly with KDOT. Those projects will be announced as KDOT approves them. The map also does not include our annual brick or concrete street repairs.
How to read the map:
The green highlighted streets and dark blue alleys are scheduled to be milled and paved in the summer of 2026.
The light blue highlighted streets will receive new sidewalk and pedestrian improvements in the Fall of 2026 and then those streets will be milled and paved in the summer of 2027.
Residents living or traveling in these areas should expect some disruption during the construction phases. Please follow all safety signs and other placards that will accompany each project and drive careful in the areas impacted.
If you have questions, concerns, or would like to report street or sidewalk damage, please contact the City Shop at (913) 367-5561 or fill out a report at this link.
