City accepting bids for 1412 Kansas Ave. property

The City of Atchison is accepting bids through the end of year for the property at 1412 Kansas Ave.

The property was a foreclosure that was bank owned and then donated to the city. Now in the City of Atchison Land Bank, the property is eligible for the city’s new REDO initiative, which seeks to rehabilitate vacant properties with the hopes of returning them to the city housing market.

Anyone interested in acquiring and rehabilitating the property should contact the Community Development Office at (913) 367-5560.

The program seeks to put properties into the hands of rehabilitation experts at little to no cost – allowing for the maximum potential profit margin. The property will be awarded to the application with the highest potential end property value.

The deadline for submissions is the end of the day on Tuesday, Dec. 31.
