City Publishes 2019 Housing Study
A complete study for the City of Atchison’s housing stock is now available to the public. The study covers information such as demographics, economic analysis, housing supply characteristics of the City, future housing needs, and a final, comprehensive summary.
The information of the housing study is largely based on a city-wide survey intended to help city staff gain a better understanding of the local housing stock as well as provide data for future housing strategy. The study looked at many housing issues, from single family owner-occupied to multi-unit rentals. Ultimately, the goal of the study was to make an accurate assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of the local housing market.
The study was conducted by Novogradac Consulting, LLP after City Manager approval in early October. Novogradac was chosen based on the company’s impressive work for other cities in Kansas, as well as the company’s emphasis on community participation. The company began work for the study in late October and concluded in December of 2019.
