Warnock Lake
Warnock Lake is a community jewel, a scenic expansive park space featuring fishing and no-wake boating as well as a campground, playgrounds, and walking trails. Adjacent to the International Forest of Friendship – a beautiful arboretum and memorial garden – Warnock Lake is the perfect place to unwind in Atchison.

7am – 11pm Daily
Shelters are available to rent without reservation on a first-come, first-served basis, but we recommend that you place a reservation to ensure availability on the day of your event. Complete a reservation request and return it with payment to City Hall.

Warnock Lake Shelter #2
Book a Warnock Lake Shelter House for your special occasion! This 20’x38′ shelter features approximately 8 picnic tables and a charcoal grill. Sorry, at this more remote locale, there isn’t access to electric and water.
Warnock Lake Shelter #3
Book a Warnock Lake Shelter House for your special occasion! This 18’x20′ shelter features approximately 4 picnic tables, a charcoal grill,and access to electric and water. It is located near a playground.
Tips for a good experience:
Blocking or taping off shelters isn’t permitted, or necessary with a reservation.
If the shelter is occupied when you arrive, politely inform them you have reserved the shelter and offer to show them your authorized reservation form. Patrons who do not have reservations are expected the vacate the shelter when a booked reservation arrives.
Enjoy the park freely, but understand that your reservation entitles you to exclusive use of the shelter only, not other park amenities.
Sorry, no glass containers or alcoholic beverages stronger than 3.2%.
Don’t drive on the grass.
You are responsible for general clean-up before you leave. Fires should be contained within the grill or fire pit and should be completely extinguished before you leave.
If non-emergency problems occur, contact the Police Department at 913-367-4323 or 9-1-1 for emergencies.
By making the reservation, you are responsible for damage/destruction to public property; the city bears no liability for your event. Sorry, no refunds on cancellations made within 30 days of the reservation date.

Attractions:
Amelia Earhart Earthwork
This one-acre portrait was created by famed Kansas artist Stan Herd in 1997. It lies on a hillside overlooking Warnock Lake and is composed of permanent plantings, stone and other natural materials. A viewing deck on a nearby hilltop provides the best ground views of the earthwork.
