Downtown Project Beginning Transition to Phase 2

Work on the 800 Commercial Streetscape Project will soon begin a transition period between Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the project. There will be changes to the traffic, access, and street closures in the area:

• The City expects the eastern half of the 700 block of Commercial Street to be reopened to traffic and parking as early as next Monday, 3/5/18. The reopening is pending a successful concrete strength test that will be completed on Friday (3/2) in the afternoon hours.
• Beginning on Wednesday, 2/28/18, the intersection at 8th Street and Commercial Street will be temporarily closed while crews install new stormwater infrastructure under the intersesction. The closure will limit the movement of east/west traffic on Commercial Street AND north/south traffic on 8th Street. Our intent is for this transition period between Phases 1 and Phase 2 to be as brief as possible. A map of the transition area is included below.
