City Wins $300,000 Grant for K-7 Resurfacing Project in 2020

The City of Atchison was recently awarded $300,000 for a future mill and overlay project of K-7 highway (Country Club Road to northern City limit). The funding comes through the Kansas Dept. of Transportation’s City Connecting Links Improvement Program (CCLIP). KDOT received 69 applications totaling $38.5 million in requests for this round of funding and awarded 27 projects totaling $13.7 million.

City staff will immediately begin working to plan and design the project, which is likely to be constructed in the spring of 2020.

Summary: This project will mill and overlaid K-7 from the intersection with Country Club Road to the northern city limits. The project is programmed for the state’s 2020 fiscal year, which likely means construction will take place in the spring of 2020.

Cost: About $500,000

Funding: $300,000 of the project costs are reimbursed by KDOT with remaining funds coming from the City of Atchison.
