Water utility and Municipal Court mandated payments can now be brought to City Hall once again, as a new drop box was installed in the vestibule at the south (main) entrance to the building.
Payments should be accompanied by water bills or in envelopes with names clearly visible for court business. If a receipt is needed, residents should signify as much with a note attached to the payment and the receipt will be mailed.
The drop box allows a secure place for cash payments to be made since the indefinite closure of City Hall was ordered this week. The vestibule will only be open during normal business hours (8 am-5 pm) so it can be monitored by staff. In the instance of cash payments, exact change will need to be submitted or rounded up to the nearest dollar, with the difference being applied as a credit to the account.
Of course, the easiest ways to make payments still include mail, online (www.cityofatchison.com) or over the phone (367-5500). The convenience fee for over-the-phone payments has been waived indefinitely. The green drop box in the alley is still available as well.
City Hall and all other city facilities are still closed to the public indefinitely.
