Monday’s Atchison City Commission meeting was brief as commissioners only had a few business items before adjourning to a workshop.
Commissioners appointed Pat Kearney and Andrew Campbell to serve three-year terms on the newly created Board of Code Review (All-Trades Board). That was the only new business, and on consent the commissioners approved the minutes from the Aug. 5 meeting and a temporary CMB license for the Muddy River Festival on Sept. 14.
After the Commission meeting the commissioners had a brief Land Bank Commission meeting, where they approved the donation of the vacant lot at 1009 Oak Street to the Riverbend Habitat for Humanity for construction of a single-family house.
The workshop – which was open to the public – contained preliminary discussion on the 2020 Street Improvement Project, downtown parking lot policies, parking surface regulations and the intersection of 2nd St. and Commercial St. As it was only a workshop, no policy decisions were made on those issues, which would have to come before the commission during a meeting for action.
