A KDOT funded project along Main Street (10th to 12th) will cause a temporary closure of the intersection at 10th Street and Main Street. Originally scheduled to occur on Thursday (4/9), the closure is now slated for Monday (4/13) for traffic signal replacement work. The closure is expected to begin at 9:00 am and last about one hour.
The Main Street (10th to 12th) Project includes construction and/or reconstruction of the curb/gutter, driveway entrances, and sidewalks on Main Street (K7) from 10th Street to 12th Street. Additionally, a new traffic signal is being installed at the intersection of 10th and Main that includes a protected left turn for northbound traffic on 10th Street during the railroad crossing preemption cycle and eliminates the existing cross-beam style signal pole.
The $490,000 construction project is 100% funded by KDOT grant funds, though the City has contributed in-kind design and administration services to complete the project.
Kansas Heavy Construction out of Tonganoxie bested two other bidders to win the construction contract, which was approved by the City Commission last year. Construction is expecting to be finished in the next few weeks.
