Crosswalk Safety – ACCA/SBCS

In ADA, Pedestrian & Bicycle, Transportation

Summary: This project intends to improve crosswalk safety for pedestrians on Kansas Avenue out front of Atchison Child Care Association (ACCA) and at St. Benedict Catholic School (SBCS) by creating curb extension areas using rubber parking blocks. The curb extensions shorten the crossing distance and cause drivers to slow down, making pedestrian crossings much safer.

Rubber parking blocks are inexpensive and easy to move if the curb extensions needs to be re-positioned or removed at any point in the future.
