Main Street Right of Way Improvements (10th to 12th)

Summary: This project will include construction and/or reconstruction of the curb/gutter, driveway entrances, and sidewalks on Main Street (K7) from 10th Street to 12th Street. This project was identified as a need by the KDOT Bureau of Access Management. The project will also upgrade the traffic signal at the 10th and Main intersection, making the railroad crossing safer for motorists.

The City is interested in completing this project only because such robust grant funds were available for this opportunity. The project agreement with KDOT was approved by the City Commission on July 17, 2017.

Cost: To preserve the integrity of the bidding process, we avoid publishing detailed engineer’s estimates prior to the bidding process.

Funding: This project is funded by a $300,000 grant from KDOT under the Access
Management Construction Project Program and a $250,000 grant to upgrade the traffic signal at 10th and Main. The City of Atchison will be responsible for the staff time to design and manage the project, but will not be required to contribute any funding.

Location: Main Street (K7) from 10th to 12th.
