Atchison Municipal Court provides the residents and businesses of Atchison with professional and effective resolution of all matters within its jurisdiction. The court’s jurisdiction covers violations of City ordinances including: traffic, property violations, fire code and other misdemeanor criminal matters.
The Atchison Police Department, Animal Control and Fire Department use a standard complaint/Notice to Appear form. Standard complaints for minor standard traffic ordinances can be disposed of through a court appearance or through payment of a fine and court costs associated with the offense. If payment of the fine is chosen, it must be paid on or before the court date.
Municipal Court is held every Wednesday at 7:30 a.m. at City Hall. Court takes place in the Commission Chambers, located on the 2nd floor of City Hall. City Hall doors on court days generally open by 7:15 a.m.
