Atchison Fire Department is an ISO 3 rated department. It has been operating as a full-time city department for over 100 years.
In addition to the fire chief, there are three shifts of full-time firefighters.
The department continues the tradition of outstanding service to the Atchison community by delivering fire suppression, medical first response service, fire prevention education, and fire safety inspections in the community.
The department ensures the highest level of training needed to keep fire personnel primed for any event. The fire department responds to an average of nearly 1600 calls per year.
